If variety is the spice of life, then Darren’s distinctive and eclectic work history certainly has plenty of flavour. He has worked across three continents on large-scale civil, industrial and infrastructure projects, including the construction of a maximum security prison and a sporting stadium. Darren has also worked in communications and marketing for a non-profit training and education provider as well as Sony PlayStation South Africa.

Known for his big ideas and irrepressible energy, Darren’s experience spans public relations, communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement. He is a firm believer that the most effective client relationships are built on the foundation of listening to our clients and telling their story with the persistence and vision that defines their values and objectives and generates meaningful results.

Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Darren earned his Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Politics and Philosophy and Bachelor of Arts in Media and Writing from the University of Cape Town. He moved to Christchurch in 2010 and instantly felt at home both professionally and personally.

Prior to this role he was the Communications and Stakeholder Manager for the Network Delivery Alliance’s construction of the Enable’s UFB network in Canterbury. He was responsible for developing and co-ordinating communications with a range of key stakeholders and opinion formers, which included local government, network owners, businesses, organisations and professional bodies, community groups and residents. During this time he managed stakeholder communications with local communities, the Christchurch City Council, SCIRT, City Care, Fulton Hogan, Orion, MainPower, Contact Energy, Chorus and Vodafone to name but a few.

Away from work you can find Darren out and about diving for paua and crays, snowboarding, tramping and getting knocked about on the local rugby field.
