A communications and marketing practitioner with more than 20 years’ experience, Phillipa (Pip) has worked in a broad range of industries – from construction and infrastructure to banking, financial services, insurance, sport and even flight simulation.

In her seven plus years as Marketing and Communications Manager at Citycare Group, Pip overhauled the company’s online communications activities, including redeveloping the website, launching a social media presence and establishing digital channels for internal audiences. Citycare is New Zealand’s biggest infrastructure maintenance company servicing the local body sector and Pip played an instrumental part in the development and roll-out of its new sector-specific brand identity in 2017.

During a 14-year stint as Marketing Projects Manager for New Zealand Cricket, Pip promoted the exploits of the Black Caps and also relished the opportunity to raise the profile and popularity of the national women’s team, the White Ferns. A particular career highlight came in late 2000, when the White Ferns won the ICC Women’s World Cup in front of an 8000-strong crowd of newly-converted women’s cricket fans in Christchurch. The icing on Pip’s cake was winning the Most Outstanding Event at the 2001 Canterbury Sports Awards.

Many of Pip’s marcomms roles have been sole-charge, necessitating a broad range of skills and the ability to couple big-picture thinking with an unwavering attention to detail. She joined the Convergence team in mid-2019 and is relishing the consultancy’s strongly team-based approach.

Always a keen card-player, Pip has recently taken up Bridge, and has now found her true calling!
