As a Christchurch-based business, the city’s historic Arts Centre holds a special place in our hearts, so we jumped at the opportunity to profile the opening of the centre’s nationally significant new art hotel.

The boutique Observatory Hotel is part of the wider $290 million earthquake restoration of The Arts Centre - New Zealand’s largest collection of historic buildings - and features 33 individually-styled rooms.

Interior styling is reminiscent of a large stately house but with a modern twist. Guests can enjoy a lavish drawing room and library, and distinctive furnishings made by local craftspeople. Modern local artworks in each room and all public areas are for sale.

Our publicity efforts resulted in significant coverage in Kia Ora, AA Traveller, BusinessDesk, Stuff, NZ Herald, Sunday Star Times, Metropol, HomeStyle, Avenues and Style magazines. Most articles were extensive and featured many of our supplied photos, with one feature extending to six pages.

Convergence was proud to play a key role in this significant milestone in central Christchurch’s regeneration.
